  1. Gillis :

Thank you for answering my question — Happy Holidays!!

  2. André Girard :

    @ Gilles

Well, our major weekend closures are over for this year. We have finished about a month ago. Our last major closure had occurred on October 29 and 30. For the last month, there was no major closure on the Champlain Bridge. We should not have any other major closure for the winter season. There is still some work site under the Bridge that will continue over the winter, but this kind of work does not have an impact on the traffic.

    Thank you.

  3. Gillis :

I’d like to know on what date the weekend closures on the Champlain Bridge will finally be suspended for the holiday season. (Presumably a couple of million residents and tourists are not expected to make do with a single lane in each direction every weekend over the Christmas holidays!)

  4. André Girard :

    @ Liam

That’s an excellent question. It’s really difficult to calculate the Carbon footprint of this Bridge, there’s around 60 millions cars every year that pass on it and every car doesn’t produce the same amount of Carbon. There’s also all the work that occurred every week to repair it. We do not have such statistics. I’ll try to find some, but I’m pretty sure we don’t have much information about it. Thank you.

  5. Liam :

Hi, I am in secondary 4, and I am doing a project on the Champlain Bridge and I was just wondering : What is the Carbon footprint of the Champlain Bridge?
    Thank You in advance
    Liam

  7. André Girard :

    @ Sheila

No lane will be closed on the Champlain Bridge, BUT there will be the completion of the roadwork on Highway 15 (Nuns’ Island Bridge) this upcoming weekend (October 29 and 30). Also note that the major weekend roadwork is now over for Champlain Bridge and Bonaventure Expressway. Night closures will continue to occur until the winter, but the major daytime work has been completed on those two structures. Moreover, the roadwork on Highway 15 should be complete this weekend.

Starting Friday October 28 at 10 PM until Sunday October 30 at noon, a single lane will be open towards Montreal on Highway 15 at the Nuns’ Island Bridge, while all the lanes will be opened towards the South Shore. Access to Montreal will be easier using the Bonaventure Expressway since it enables motorists to avoid the Highway 15 worksite during this period of time.

    Thank you.

  8. Sheila :

will there be any lane closed on champlain bridge this week-end Oct. 29/11

  9. Denis Cormier :

Tomorrow Oct 11, 2011, I need to go to the south shore via Champlain bridge and Turcot Interchange and return in the evening around midnight. What will be the lanes situation please?

    Thank you…….Denis Cormier

  10. André Girard :

    @ John

Yes, for this weekend there is a major closure planned on the Champlain bridge to complete the paving work. I invite you to consult our last post about it. Thank you.

  11. John :

    Hello,

I was just wondering if there will be any maintenance and closings for the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend.

    Thank you

  12. Margaret :

Traveling from Vermont through Montreal early Sunday morning on Oct. 2. Any delays expected?

  13. Kim :

Why are the live web cams not working for the Champlain Bridge? I am going to http://www.pjcci.ca/Francais/video/directcam.asp?intCameraId=2&intDirection=2
The screens have been blank for several weeks now.

  14. Terry Donovan :

Any work, and/or lane restrictions on Saturday Oct 1?

  15. Don Hill :

    Andre,

I will be taveling from Cornwall to Magog on Friday, Sept. 30, and will be traveling through Montreal between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. I will driving on # 20 and will be crossing the Champlain Bridge and then travelling on #10 east to Magog. Will there be any lane closures on the bridge that weekend.

Also, when does rush hour typically end on Friday night in Montreal? Would we be better to take # 520 and then 40 and then take the tunnel instead?

I will be returning on Monday, October 3 and going through Montreal around mid-afternoon. Again, what is the best way to get through Montreal at that time?

    Thanks.

  16. France :

We are going to Vaudreuil from Vermont on October 1st weekend, coming back on Sunday the 2nd. Will there be construction on the bridge that weekend? If so, what alternate route should we take? We visited my family On August 26, and coming back on the 27 took us 5 1/2 hours to get home, instead of 2 1/2. It was a nightmare! Please help. Thanks.

  17. André Girard :

    @ Jeni

No work is planned of the next weekend (September 23-25). Only some night closures, but because of the Marathon of Montreal no work is planned during the day. Thank you.

  18. Jeni :

Any work scheduled for this coming weekend, September 23-25?

  19. Nell :

Hello, I am not from the area. I am looking at closures for tonight. Is there a map that shows where the following ramps are specifically located: ramp P3 (entrance for Highway 15 South by Gaétan-Laberge Boulevard in Verdun) and ramp O (entrance for Highway 15 South by exit 4 of the Bonaventure Expressway.
    Thank you.

  20. André Girard :

    @ Michael

As of Friday, September 9 at 10 PM to Monday, September 12 at 5 AM, a single Montreal bound lane and two South Shore bound lanes will be open on the Champlain Bridge, whereas on Highway 15, a single lane will be open in each direction between the Atwater and Nuns’ Island exits. For more information, please consult our last post. Thank you.

  22. Cory :

I am coming into Montreal from Vermont at 7pm, Wed., Sept. 7th for a concert at the Bell Center. Should I avoid the champlain bridge due to delays? If so, what alternative route should I take?

  23. Ted :

Do you expect any lane closures on Sunday Sept 11, (east bound) in the morning or should we plan to take the Mercier bridge?

    Thank you

  25. Yulian :

Would you please let me know how many lanes will be closed on the bridge this long weekend Sep 03, Sep 04, and Sep 05 both directions Montreal—South Shore? My friend is moving this week-end and need to know this info.Thank you very much!

  26. Carole :

Cannot view the clips of the webcams, and I can’t find the plug-ins for. Please forward link to download.

  27. Rhona :

How many lanes will be closed on the bridge this wknd leaving Montreal and returning? Thank you.

  28. André Girard :

    @ JM

Merci.

  29. André Girard :

    @ Rick Singh

Are they coming only on Monday, September 5, or for the whole week-end?

  30. JM :

    Bonjour!
Je viendais en voyage a Montreal, j’ai l’intention de prends le pont Champlain Mercredi matin, mais je voudrais savoir si le pont sera ouvert a la circulation Mercredi matin?

  31. rik singh :

    Hello,
I am expecting hundreds of guests for an event on labour day weekend, arriving from Toronto, Ottawa, and other places that need to take the Champlain Bridge to come to Brossard. What are your construction plans for that weekend (day time and night times) and are there any alternative routes I can tell them to take instead.

    Thanks

  32. Melinda :

I will be traveling to Quebec City from Toronto on Sunday August 14th with a large trailer – is crossing the Champlain Bridge my best option? What will be the toll charges??

  33. André Girard :

    @ Sarah

The work on the Champlain Bridge has been rescheduled due to unfavourable weather conditions announced for Sunday, August 14. So the Champlain Bridge will be accessible and all the lanes will be opened. Thank you.

  34. André Girard :

    @ Robert

    @ Susan

  36. Susan :

I am traveling to Plattsburg on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 8:30am. Will the Champlain Bridge be accessible? How many lanes will be open on the south side and then for the return at 8pm on the north side? Many thankf for your assistance.

  37. Robert :

On Aug 13 Saturday at 7:00 I go from Montreal to St. Jean. Will the Hwy 15 south access onto the Champlain bridge be open? (It was closed last Saturday Aug 6 with a long detour through Lasalle and Verdun).

  38. Sarah :

Thank you for your reply. I want to leave Montreal at 415 and hope to arrive in New York past midnite-considering the bridge is ok. Is 415 p.m. a good time to head towards the bridge?

  39. André Girard :

    @ Jules Millian

Two lanes out of three will be closed towards the South Shore and one lane out of three towards Montreal. You can consult our last post for more details. Thank you.

  40. André Girard :

    @ Seth

Two lanes out of three will be opened on Sunday August 14 towards Montreal, so there will be more traffic than usual, but it should be ok, if you pass before 10 AM. Thank you.

  41. André Girard :

    @ Sarah

Yes, I think by the time you arrive to Montreal and the Champlain Bridge it should be ok. At what time exactly, you think you will arrive to Montreal? There should be some night closures (two lanes closed out of three), but not before 11 PM. Maybe one first lane out of three will be closed at 9 PM, but it should not impact to much the traffic. Thank you.

  42. Sarah :

    Hello
I want to leave to New York through the Champlain bridge-15 south today August 11. I’d like to leave around 415. Would you suggest I take my regular route to the Champlain Bridge?
Thank you and awaiting your reply.

  43. Jules Millian :

what is the schedule work for Sunday August 14, 2011

  44. Seth :

  45. George :

I am visiting my mom in NDG from Hemmingford (rt 15) around 10 AM tomorrow (Monday). What would probably be the best way into the city? Also, when would be best to leave the city (afternoon or evening) and which bridge?

  46. Carrie :

Traveling to Mtl from North Hatley on Sunday. What is the status of the bridge closures and can you recommend a route?

  47. Diana Fong :

Since the scope of work is concentrated on the 15 this week-end, will the exit to Atwater be closed off?

  48. Jean :

I am planning to drop off my traveling parents at Trudeau Airport at 12pm on Monday, 8/8 and picking them up on at 6pm on Monday, 8/23. What kind of delays should I expect on the Champlain Bridge? I am coming from Vermont. Is there an alternate route I should take?

  49. André Girard :

    @ Diane

There is no closure planned on Friday at 11 AM. The weekend closure will start at 10 PM. For your return, it’s better to pass by Jacques-Cartier to make sure you avoid the traffic. You can take a chance by Champlain, but with the return from the Construction Holiday, I’m pretty sure it is going to be more difficult to access the city by Champlain. Thank you.

  50. Diane :

I will be going to the states Friday Aug 5 at 11:00 am and returning Sunday, Aug 7 at around 18:00 or 19:00. Should I take the Champlain bridge?

  51. Sandra :

I am so impressed that you responded so quickly! Thank you so much! It will probably be between 6pm and 7pm when we return on Sunday.

  52. André Girard :

    @ Sandra

On Thursday, you should use the Champlain Bridge to go to the US. Around 5:30 AM the traffic should not be so tough. For your return, you could take Champlain or Mercier. It should be difficult on both of them depending of the hour. If you have the chance, the best bridge to take is Jacques-Cartier. At what time, you think you will came back?

  53. André Girard :

    @ Brent Penning

We just look at it and it seems to work.

  54. Brent Penning :

how come the live web cam doesn’t work anymove when i open it to see if it’s running smooth before i go to work on the other side …cause i live in Lachine
Been waiting for a answer since july 22 ?????

  55. Sandra :

We will be leaving to go the US on Thursday morning (Aug.4) early (5:30am)from Dorval. We usually take the Mercier, via Laprairie. With all the work being done, we are confused on what way to go – the Champlain or the Mercier. Is there still access to Laprairie from the Mercier (from Dorval)? Or should we go by the Champlain? We will return Sunday evening (7th). Again, which bridge would you suggest for the return?
    Please advise. Thank you!

  56. Annie :

are we allowed to cross champlain bridge with our camping trailer? it is a 34′ airstream trailer. Thanks!

  57. André Girard :

    @ Tammy

There is no closure planned at that time (Saturday morning around 11 AM) on the Champlain Bridge, only on a section of the Bonaventure Expressway. Thank you.

  58. Tammy :

We are heading to vermont, crossing border at Rock Island via the Champlain Bridge tomorrow (Saturday) morning around 11:00 a.m. Are there any planned closures on the Champlain bridge at that time?

  61. Niki :

Could you please confirm if there is any closures or delays on the Pont Champlain bridge on Monday August 1st?

  62. Kris :

Travelling through Montreal (east bound) next Thursdayn(Aug 4), night (5:30 – 8pm timeframe). Are any lanes being closed that night?

  63. André Girard :

    @ Rose

There is going to be some night closures during this period, but no closure during the day. For the delays, there is always some traffic in the morning and in the afternoon for the rush hours period. Thank you.

  64. Rose :

Could you please confirm if there is any closure of/delays on the Pont Champlaine brindge from Juy 28 to July 31st?

  78. Ingrid Calabrese :

Any closings scheduled for Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17, 2011?

  79. André Girard :

    @ Melinda

Our reports are in the hands of the governement. The decision should came from them. For the moment, we manage all the risks of this Bridge. It is crucial for road users to understand the short and long-term measures put forward to ensure the safety of the Champlain Bridge. I invite you to consult our post presenting these measures. Thank you.

  80. Melinda :

Needless to say, the news on Champalin bridge is unsettling. Any news on a new bridge?

  81. André Girard :

    @ Richard

For the moment, no closure is planned for July 16. Maybe there is going to be some night closure, but for sure, no major closure should occurred that day. Thank you.

  82. André Girard :

    @ David

  84. David :

  85. Maria :

Will there be any partial or complete closure of Champlain bridge
( going to park safari) on Sunday July 10th ??

  86. André Girard :

    @ Mark

Exactly. There is going to be only a closure towards the South Shore from Sunday night 11 PM to Monday morning 5 AM. Two lanes out of three will be closed during this period only. No closure for the rest of the weekend. Thank you.

  87. Mark :

So no major closures.Does that mean all lanes are open during the week in both directions?

  88. fred Melling :

What are the scheduled closures on the Champlain bride for August and September

  89. Maria :

COuld you please let us know whether the Conservative’s government electoral promise of building a NEW CHamplain bridge will be honoured? And what is the timeline/schedule?
    Thank you.

  90. André Girard :

    @ Deborah

There should be no major closure on the Champlain Bridge itself for next weekend. Maybe on the Bonaventure Expressway like last weekend, but, for sure, not on the Champlain Bridge itself. The major closures on the Champlain Bridge will start again in August. No major closure is planned for the month of July. Thank you.

  91. Robert T. Douville :

Planning to cross from south enroute Laval around 10-12 a.m., Sat., Aug. 13th. Any expected delays/restrictons for that date/period? Tks

  92. Deborah Leahy :

  94. André Girard :

There are no planned lane closures at the Champlain Bridge until August so you will be able to cross on the 29th.

  95. André Girard :

There are no planned lane closures at the Champlain Bridge until August.

  96. Tony :

Will there be any partial or complete closures in the Champlain bridge area during the long Canada day weekend (July 1st to July 3rd)?

  97. Stephen E. McGovern :

I need to get to the south shore from st-jerome on wednesday june 29th 2011 around 02h00am… will there be a southbound lane open on th Champlain Bridge at that hour

  98. Mel :

Is there a final maquette of what the Nun’s Island entrances and exits will look like – especially when accessing the Bonaventure Autoroute. Thank you.

  99. André Girard :

@ IDS resident and K. Shanahan

Within the context of the major roadwork undertaken on the Champlain Bridge towards the South Shore, we have contacted the Verdun borough to determine whether it would be possible to temporarily open Exit 5. Unfortunately, this is not a possible option since the borough is starting some roadwork in this area. The Verdun borough must finish its work in order to allow the definite opening of this exit. We hope this will be the case in August when we undertake important roadwork.

At this time, the major roadwork towards the South Shore scheduled for this weekend should be the last until August. Next weekend, we will again be focusing on our roadwork in the Montreal direction, which should cause less difficulty in accessing Nuns’ Island. Then the roadwork will be suspended during the months of June and July. There is a strong possibility that, when we start work again in August, the Verdun borough will have finished its roadwork and that Exit 5 will be reopened.

We understand that there are currently very few options to avoid traffic when accessing Nuns’ Island. Of course, traffic increases throughout the day, therefore in knowing so, it is possible to adjust your travels i.e. there should be less traffic in the morning and at night. In addition, it will be easier to access Nuns’ Island by Highway A15 North via the Champlain Bridge, which will have two lanes open towards Montreal. It is therefore more strategic to choose this access rather than trying to reach Nuns’ Island by the Bonaventure Expressway or by the A-15 South.

We understand that your regular travels will be compromised by this roadwork and we ask for your full cooperation this coming weekend.

    Thank you.

  100. André Girard :

    @ Mary O’Malley

The two lanes of the Victoria Bridge will be open towards the South Shore this weekend on Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 9 PM. Thank you.

  101. André Girard :

    @ Dina

You are right, we should talk more about “Montreal” and “South Shore” to make sure it is clear. Thank you for the comment.

  102. André Girard :

    @ Judy

As we mentioned in our last post, the Victoria Bridge was use last weekend to help motorists access to Montreal because there was only one lane open on the Champlain Bridge towards Montreal. As we say in our post “In fact, the two lanes on the Victoria Bridge will exceptionally be opened northbound from 9 AM to 9 PM on the Saturday and Sunday to counter the closures on the Champlain Bridge. “ We are very sorry for the inconvenience. For the next weekend, the two lanes of Victoria Bridge will be open towards the South Shore, because the Champlain Bridge will be reduce to one lane in that direction.

For the weekend of June 4 and 5, we have decided to keep the Victoria Bridge open normally (one lane in each direction) to make sure users will not be surprise like the last weekend. It’s more easy to continue on route 132 when Victoria Bridge is closed towards Montreal then find an another way, when it is closed towards the South Shore and users are stock at Wellington St. or Bridge St.

  103. smith :

What is the schedule for lane closures for Fri 27th and Sunday the 29th.
And have you published a list of closures for the Spring and Summer?

  104. Stuart McKelvie :

I apologise if I am repeating the question I posted today (Wed. May 25) – I do not see it listed.

Can I travel normally on the bridge from midnight tonight until about 2 tomorrow (Thursday) morning? Is there going to be work done tonight at that time?

  105. Stuart McKelvie :

For tonight (Wednesday, May 25), will there be work on the bridge from midnight onwards in to Thursday May 26? When I come from the airport, can I safely go over the Champlain without encountering delays from road works?

  106. Judy :

Can you explain why news reports (e.g. CBC Montreal News) and electronic sign boards (e.g. one on the 132 just east of the Champlain Bridge) encouraged people to use alternate routes this past weekend and specifically listed the Victoria Bridge. But… the Victoria Bridge was closed!!! I, along with many other people were caught having to make U-turns on Bridge St. and heading over to Jacques Cartier Bridge or taking our chances on the Champlain. Not sure who dropped the ball on this one, but you shouldn’t be recommending alternate routes that are not open!

  107. Dina :

    Good day,
Great site, but would be helpful to have more clarity around “nord” and “sud”. People from out of town may think that “nord” is lanes heading north, and “sud” is traffic in the south bound lanes, rather than “nord” being a north looking direction to show the traffic flow heading south. A little more info below the webcam, or prominantly on the site may be very helpful to some people

  108. Mary O'Malley :

What is the schedule for the victoria bridge on Saturday may 28th?

  109. IDS resident :

I cannot understand why you force all the Nun’s Island residents to queue up onto the 15. It seems obvious that you should open exit #5 from the Bonaventure, if even temporarily as you did last year during some of the work. Last weekend’s traffic management was pathetic. I would appreciate understanding why a perfectly good exit cannot be used saving hundreds if not thousands of man-hours of travel time for many tax payers.

  110. K. Shanahan :

When will you complete the direct access to Nuns Island from the Bonaventure Highway. Its been 2 years now that we have to detour on to the Champlain approach via the IDS bridge. Appreciate response. Thanks.

  111. Stuart McKelvie :

    André:
Thanks for the response – I shall check back.

  112. André Girard :

    @ Stuart McKelvie

As we began our work season, there is usually a lot of closures on the Champlain Bridge at night. For the moment, there is no work planned for that date, but to be sure, it is better to come back on our blog to check before travelling. Mercier Bridge may be a better option to be sure. Thank you.

  113. Stuart McKelvie :

Sorry for writing a second time – I lclosed the webpage and my question disappeared.

On the night of Wednesday, May 25, will there be work on the Champlain Bridge from midnight onwards (into Thursday morning)? I am travelling from the airport.

  114. Stuart McKelvie :

Can you please tell me if there will be any work being done on the bridge on Wednesday, May 25 from midnight until 3 a.m.? If I am coming from the airport, should I take the Mercier bridge at that time or will Champlain be normal?

  115. André Girard :

    @ Gina

At night, the Victoria Bridge will be open in both direction, from 9 PM to 9 AM. Thank you.

  116. André Girard :

    @ Gina

This weekend it’s going to be towards the South Shore because there’s only one lane towards the South Shore on the Champlain Bridge. This special opening will be from 9 AM to 9 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Thank you.

  117. gina :

“victoria bridge 2 lanes open in a single direction this weekend”.. which direction? never both?

    @ C P

Can you sent us back your question. We are looking at our inbox and don’t find your question. We will be glad to answer it. Thank you.

  119. C P :

Please answer my question or I will contact the gazette. This is a public safety concern, and not a joke.

  120. esam jalboush :

do you have to close the champlain bridge completely for traffic this summer? or is it just for nights and weekend nights? Please I need to know because I have to cross it twice a day for my work. at 1030 and 1700
    thank you

  121. Andy :

Is the government (Stephen Harper) even considering on fixing the bridge? As I noticed, during the recent debate that has happened, (le débat en françcais) He seemed to have shrugged off the idea of rebuilding the bridge or anything that had to deal with the bridge after that first mention of it.

  122. Derek Burman :

Is there any plans to deal with the major potholes, specifically on the east side of the bridge going to Montreal. I use this bridge everyday and like everywhere else in this city the potholes are dangerous and plentiful. Given the small lanes and congestion on the bridge you have no choice but to drive over them.

  123. André Girard :

    @ Jim

No major closure is scheduled at that time. Have a nice trip. Thank you.

  124. Jim Davidson :

I plan to be taking the Champlain Bridge heading from the Eastern Townships to Ottawa about 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 and coming back from Ottawa about 5 p.m. Dec. 4. Will there be closures on the Champlain Bridge at these times.

  125. André Girard :

    @ Sofia

No closure are planned on the Champlain Bridge on the scheduled you mentioned for the moment. For Thursday, just to be sure you can consult this blog after 5 PM to check our daily notice. Thank you and have a nice trip.

  126. Sofia :

    Hello,

I will pass the Champlain Bridge from Sherbrooke to Toronto tonight(Nov.30 midnight or Dec.1 early morning)and will pass the bridge at midnight on Dec. 4, 2010. Will you close the bridge at these days?

  127. Jason :

    Hello,
Will there be any work / lane closures on the Champlain bridge this weekend (Nov 13-14)?
    Thank you.

  128. André Girard :

    @ Robert

The work which you refer to (paving the northbound lanes and the lanes at the southern approach) will unfortunately not be done this year. We would have liked to make further progress in our work up until the winter, but such work was not budgeted and we cannot do everything in one year. In terms of traffic, you have to realize that this summer was particularly difficult on the Champlain Bridge and we wanted to provide some relief to motorists.

However, such work should take place next year. We are currently preparing our plan for 2011 and such paving will most likely be integrated, if not a part of it. It is also important that you are made aware of the fact that not all of the expansion joints were replaced. We have indeed replaced some, but it is a project that will continue over the coming years. Replacing an expansion joint is a complex manoeuver that requires a lot of time.

Thank-you for your comment. We are also very proud of the work that was carried out this year, and the efficiency of our contractor. It is indeed very impressive to have completed such paving work in just two weekends. The replacement of expansion joints was also carried out diligently. The pace was excellent and we were able to complete our work on the Champlain Bridge much more quickly than expected, over four weekends instead of seven.

  129. André Girard :

    @ Nadine

We will transfer your comment to the Ministère des Transports du Québec which is responsible for the highway you refer to. We also invite you to contact them directly to explain the situation on Québec 511.

    Thank you.

  130. Nadine :

Getting onto the Champlain bridge from the Decarie south, there is construction. The lane coming from the Decarie south now merges with on-ramp from the 20 east – into one lane with no visibility on either side because of concrete barriers!! How can I safely merge onto the Champlain bridge from the Decarie without getting side-swipped by cars speeding up the on-ramp from the 20, which I can’t see?

  131. Daniel Nadeau :

Will there be lane restrictions on the Champlain
brige in our out on the 30th oct. afternoon or
    evening.

  132. André Girard :

    @ Cathy

There’s no closure planned for this weekend on the Champlain Bridge. The major work scheduled for this year in the Champlain Bridge area had ended. The paving, repair of the roadway and replacement of expansion joints has been completed. A few night closures are to be expected in the upcoming weeks and weekends, but nothing as major as the closures experienced over the last few weekends.Thank you.

  133. Cathy :

Please confirm how many southbound and northbound lanes will be open on Champlain Bridge on Saturday Oct 30th.
    Thank you.

  134. André Girard :

    @ Jeanette

The Victoria Bridge had over the last weekends some specials openings because of our important closures on Champlain Bridge. We ask them to make some adjustment to help us with the important flow of traffic coming towards the South Shore. Our work is now over for this year, so the Victoria Bridge should keep its regular configuration for the next months. Thank you.

  135. André Girard :

    @ Eva Friede

Sorry for the delay. the access to the Champlain Bridge is possible by Bonaventure Expressway, but you will have to take a detour via Exit 2 (Pierre-Dupuy Avenue). You can also take Highway 15 South to access the Champlain Bridge. In case of any other closure on Bonaventure Expressway, here’s a map that show our detour by Bonaventure Expressway. Thank you.

  136. eva :

How do you get to the Champlain Bridge and Highway 10 with the Bonaventure closed? Coming from downtown.

  137. eva Friede :

How does one access Champlain Bridge when the Bonaventure Expressway is closed? Coming from downtown.

  138. Jeanette :

By the way, how do you find out the opening/ closing of Victoria Bridge online? I have tried http://www.quebec511.gouv.qc.ca but I cannot find the information. I know you are responsible for Champlain only but if you could help that would be great.

In case Champlain is busy I would take a detour to Victoria, except that a few weeks ago when I did that, the direction to Mtl. is closed!

  139. Jeanette :

There is no closure on the bridge but there is partial closure of Hwy 15 N at the De La Verendrye area (2 lanes in 3) this weekend. I have to travel to West Island every Saturday for work and this anticipation of heavy traffic is stressful. Beware of long line-up everyone!

  140. André Girard :

    @ Stephanie

The best bridge to use will be the Champlain Bridge. There’s no closure planned on this Bridge this weekend. The best way to avoid the traffic is to pass there before noon.

    Thank you.

  141. Stephanie :

Hello. My cousin is driving from Vermont to Trudeau airport on Sunday. Will there be any closures? Which bridge would be the best option? What time of day would be best?
    Thanks :)
    This site is very cool!

  142. André Girard :

    @ Cathy

On Saturday from 10 AM to 8 PM, there won’t be any lane going North on the Victoria Bridge. All lanes will be specially open towards the South Shore to help reduce the traffic from the Nun’s Island Bridge. To go to Montreal, it’s better to take the Jacques-Cartier Bridge. Thank you.

  143. Cathy :

Will there be any lanes open going to Montreal (northbound) this weekend on Victoria Bridge because you say that there will be 2 lanes opened going southbound from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please advise. Thank you.

  144. anne uprichard :

Will there be any lane closures on the Champlain Bridge into Montreal Sept. 28? And will there be any closures on the Victoria Bridge south bound Sept. 28th.

  145. André Girard :

    @ Janet Heckley and Nancy

There will indeed be a closure on the L’Île-des-Soeurs Bridge this weekend from Friday, midnight to Sunday, noon. This closure is likely to affect traffic on the Champlain Bridge, as the L’Île-des-Soeurs Bridge connects Highway 15 to the Champlain Bridge. For all details concerning this closure, I invite you to consult our last blog post. Ideally, on Saturday, we recommend that you use the Honoré Mercier or Jacques Cartier Bridge towards Montreal or the Victoria Bridge towards the South Shore.

  146. Janet Heckley :

Will there be closures to the Champlain Bridge or its access (South and North bound) this weekend (September 24th,25th, 26th)?

  147. Nancy :

Will there be closures to the Champlain Bridge or its access (South and North bound) this weekend (September 25th)?

  148. Eve :

Oh, and why close Bonaventure on the same weekend that Champlain bridge has 2 lanes closed. Bonaventure is one of the only options to get to nun’s island to avoid the major traffic created by the bridge closure. Why why why do you paralize that whole area at once, and not close them on intervals. Does no one take peoples lives in consideration?? the impact, the time?? How do you plan these things? What is your strategy?

  149. Eve :

Why would you close the acces to the 15north from nun’s island on the same weekend that bonaventure is closed?? it’s absurd to redirect everyone downtown and create such a MAJOR traffic mess. Closures are understandable, but when they are done strategicly. This just doesn’t make sense, plus there was no one working on the acces bridge to the 15 both times I drove by. Why was this planned this way?? I would like to know if this was done purposly, or just a result of poor coordination. These major traffic delays have an impact on peoples lives… kids… jobs…

  150. hildie :

We live close to the Decarie expressway. We are leaving for Maine on Thursday, Sept.23 and returning home on Sunday, Sept.26. Which bridge should we use?

  151. André Girard :

    @ Linda

You can see the Clément Bridge by clicking here. The Clément Bridge is the link between the Nuns Island and the Bonaventure Expressway. Thank you.

  152. linda :

Thank you very much for your reply. one more question, where is Clement bridge? On your home page mentioned to use Clement bridge and Bonaventure express. Thanks once again

  153. André Girard :

    @ Linda

To make sure you’re not confuse, it’s right that the access to Wellington is close this weekend by Exit 60. But it’s not right that the nuns island bridge will be completely close.

  154. André Girard :

    @ Linda

Exactly, Exit 60 from Highway 15 North will be close, you will have to pass by Bonaventure Expressway. To go back to Nun’s Island you will have to take Exit 57 N from Highway 15 South. To access this Exit you should take the Exit 4 of Bonaventure Expressway. The Nuns Island Bridge won’t be completely close, one lane will be open towards the South Shore. By taking the ramp of Exit 4 from Bonaventure Expressway you will be near the entrance of the Island. Thank you.

  155. linda :

Thank you for your reply. Does it means that we can not access exit 60 from nuns islands to wellington? exit 58 is only for leaving Nuns island to Bonaveture express but not for entrance. As per my knowledge, the entrance to nuns island is only exit 57. But exit 57 is on the nuns island bridge while nuns island bridge is close, right?

    I am a bit confused.

  156. André Girard :

    @ Linda

Here’s a map that you can access by clicking here to help you go from Nuns Island to Metro Jolicoeur. To go back to Nuns Island you can take the same route, back to Bonaventure Expressway and then by Exit 4 to Nuns Island. Thank you.

  157. Linda :

    Hi,

I need to drive from nuns island to Jolicour metro and return from Jolicour metro back to nuns island. How should I go this weekend? I am a new driver and new to Montreal. Thanks!

  158. André Girard :

    @ Marsha

For all the details of our next closures, I invite you to consult our last post. For the next weekend all the entrance should be open to Nuns Island, but after this weekend, there’s a similar closure of what had happen last week. Thank you.

  159. André Girard :

    @ Jean Sanders

To make sure to avoid the traffic it’s better to use the Jacques-Cartier Bridge or even Victoria Bridge, there’s going to have important work on Highway 15 just before the Champlain Bridge Thank you.

  160. André Girard :

    @ Stephen Bray

You can take the Jacques-Cartier Bridge. The access to Jacques-Cartier can be taken by Highway 720. After you pass through the Bridge you can follow the Highway 132 West to go back on the Highway 15. You can consult this map to be sure to understand how to reach your target. Thank you.

  161. Jean Sanders :

I’m planning to travel from Toronto to Bromont on Sunday, Sept 19th. Will I be able to take my usual Route 20 to Route 10 over the Champlain Bridge?

    Thanks very much

  162. André Girard :

    @ Marvyn Besner

Hi, all the information of our next closures are presenting in our last post. You can consult it by clicking here. For the period you mentionned, there’s going to be just one lane open in each direction on the Nun’s Island Bridge. On the Champlain Bridge itself there’s no closures. But the work being done on Nun’s Island Bridge will have an impact on the traffic flow on Champlain. Thank you.

  163. Marvyn Besner :

    Champlain Bridge:
Between 2pm and 8pm, how many lanes are open northbound. Southbound how many are open between 8pm and 11pm both on the 18th of September.

  164. Stephen Bray :

    Hello,

    I hope you can help?

I’m from Ottawa and was in the Eastern Towmships on the weekend. On Sunday I was going back to Ottawa using Highway #10. At, around 2:30 or 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, when I was getting closer to Montreal, before I even got to the Broussard, traffic was backed up so far that it took almost an hour just to get to the Champlain bridge. My question is, can I take another route that’s faster. If there is, do you have directions on how to go?

    Thank you in advance.

    Stephen

  165. Marsha :

we live in Nuns Island. During the next 3 weekends, will you open up the entrances to 15S from Wellington, or Atwater, or even University? This weekend all 3 were closed, and it was very frustrating to see no indications.

  166. André Girard :

    @ Louis Saint-Arnaud

This closure is part of Arrondissement de Verdun work à the Pointe-Nord. For more information, please read this article. Thank you for your comment.

  167. Louis Saint-Arnaud :

Will the Nuns Island exit from Bonaventure be reopened during the work on Nuns Island Bridge? It is only for removing a couple of cement fence blocks… Should not be that difficult, and would make a whole lot of a difference for people of Nuns Island.

  168. Glen :

    Hi,
Going north on the bridge for afternoon/evening RUSH hour lanes are closed for buses to use the center lane. What are the hours for this lane change during the week?
    Thanks!

  169. gerry rosco :

What is projected delay, or transit time, Southbound over Champlain Bridge today Aug 28 around 1pm.
    Thanks

  170. André Girard :

    @ Donna Tremblay

For that period the Victoria Bridge will be open with both lanes towards the South Shore. If you leave early on Saturday morning, Champlain Bridge should not be so bad, because two lanes will be open towards Montreal. But if you go back to the South Shore, you should definitely take Victoria Bridge. Thank you.

  171. Donna TREMBLAY :

Tomorrow morning, I have to be at the Lachine Canal for 7:30 a.m.
So I see only 2 of three lanes will be open going on to the Island, but will the Victoria Bridge be open going in to town at that time or will both lanes be coming to the South Shore still?

  172. André Girard :

    @ Joe

The work won’t be completed at that time, but for the moment we should not have some closures on that weekend. Our next major weekend work will be from Friday, September 10, 10 PM to Monday, September 13, 5 AM. Thank you. To be sure, we invite you to check this blog on Tuesday next week.

  173. Joe :

We will have friends from Ottawa visit us in Bromont on Sat. Sept. 4th. Will the Champlain Bridge work be completed by then? If not, is there an alternative route you recommend?

  174. Nic :

Oops … sorry for repeating my question.

  175. Nic :

I went across the bridge yesterday around 5pm and although there were significant lane closures and traffic delays, I did not see any workers on the bridge. Can you explain why the bridge is closed if no one is working?

  176. Nic :

I took Champlain today (Sunday August 22) at 5pm. Despite all the lane closures and traffic delays I did not see one worker on the structure. Can you tell me why you close the bridge if no one is working?

  177. André Girard :

    @ Kristen

There is always a way to get to the Bridge even if we are doing some work. When we gonna post information about a specific closure, we will also explain how we can pass throw the Bridge. Thank you.

  178. kristen :

What route would I take to get from Rue Wellington to the Champlain Bridge going south to get to USA if the expressway is closed ?
